
Lillian Steward of Scotia-Glenville Named to CDSWOY Class of 2026
ALBANY, NY – Lillian Steward, a senior at Scotia-Glenville High School, has been named as one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2026 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization.
Lillian, who competes in cheerleading, field hockey and track & field, will be recognized at the Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala on Monday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the GE Theatre at Proctors in Schenectady. Tickets will be available online at Proctors.org soon.
The Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization (CDSWOY) honors the best and brightest female student athletes from high schools and colleges in the Capital District of New York State. The student-athletes will be recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics, and community service. More information is provided at the website: cdswoy.com.
Academically, Lillian recorded a 3.9 GPA and was a high honor student in all four years at Scotia-Glenville. She was a Student of the Quarter in her freshman year and a member of the National Honor Society. Lillian was active at the school with multiple years working with Elevating Student Voices and Power of Peace. She was accepted into the New Visions BOCES Program.
Athletically, Lillian was a team captain for cheerleading and field hockey, and a two-time captain for the indoor and outdoor track & field teams. She led the field hockey squad in assists in her senior season (posting seven assists with eight goals) and was a First Team Foothills Conference All Star in 2025. The fall cheerleading team won the Class B Sectional Championship in 2025, and the winter team was a Class B Co-ed Sectional Champion in 2026. Lillian was the 2025 Foothills Conference Champion for Weight Throw in indoor track & field and made the Foothills All-Star Team. She was a member of two-time Sectional Champions, and this past winter, ranked in the top 50 in New York State in the weight throw. Lillian was the Foothills Champion for the disc in outdoor track and a conference First Team member for the disc, both coming in her junior year.
Lillian’s community service includes over 100 service hours in the National Honor Society. She has shadowed at hospitals throughout the Capital District. She volunteered at St. Peter’s Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. As a member of the Student Senate, she has assisted in breast cancer walks, numerous fundraisers, and assisted in planning the Spring Fling, homecoming and a prom. Lillian volunteered as a youth coach in cheerleading and field hockey as well as modified track meets.
Lillian becomes the first Scotia-Glenville High School student-athlete selected by CDSWOY. A total of 10 high school and three college female student-athletes will be honored at the August 3 event. The next recipient will be announced on June 30.
