Brigid Toleman of Cambridge Named to CDSWOY Class of 2026

ALBANY, NY – Brigid Toleman, a senior at Cambridge High School, has been named as one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2026 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization.

Brigid, who competes in basketball and golf, will be recognized at the Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala on Monday, August 3 at 7:00 p.m. at the GE Theatre at Proctors in Schenectady. Tickets will be available online at Proctors.org soon.

The Capital District Sports Women of the Year organization (CDSWOY) honors the best and brightest female student athletes from high schools and colleges in the Capital District of New York State. The student-athletes will be recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics, and community service. More information is provided at the website: cdswoy.com.

Academically, Brigid received the Principal’s Honor Roll for every quarter since her freshman year at Cambridge High School. She received the Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizenship Award and was named the Girls State Representative. Brigid was also the recipient of the Ken Baker Memorial Scholarship, the DA Collins Scholarship, and the Red Cross award for her blood drive volunteer service. A member of the National Honor Society, Brigid ranked sixth in her class of 58.

Athletically, Brigid was the captain of the Cambridge-Salem Boys Varsity Golf Team in her junior and senior years. Brigid was a scholar-athlete for golf and basketball. She was the first girl in Cambridge High School history to qualify and play in the Section 2 Girls Golf Sectionals. As a senior, Brigid joined the Unified basketball team.

Earlier in her high school career, Brigid played field hockey (grade 9), and softball (grades 8-11). She was on the basketball team since 8th grade and played golf for her final three years at Cambridge High.  

Brigid’s community service includes working with the Divided Sky Foundation, a recovery center in Ludlow, Vermont. She assisted in the Ken Baker Golf Memorial Tournament, the 4-H Milkshake Booth at the Washington County Fair, spotting for the Cambridge Salem football team home games (grades 9-12) and countless hours at concession stands at numerous school booster club events

Brigid becomes the first Cambridge High School student-athlete selected by CDSWOY. A total of 10 high school and three college female student-athletes will be honored at the August 3 event.
