Jenna Hoffman named to Capital District Sports Women of the Year Class of 2021
SCHENECTADY, NY – Jenna Hoffman, a senior at Maple Hill High School, has been named as one of the 10 scholastic award recipients for 2021 by the Capital District Sports Women of the Year.
Jenna, who competes in basketball, softball, tennis and volleyball, will be recognized at the Capital District Sports Women of the Year Awards Gala on Monday, August 9 at 7:00 p.m. at the GE Theatre at Proctors in Schenectady. Tickets are on sale via proctors.org or through the Proctors Box Office phones, open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 518-346-6204. All tickets must be purchased online or by phone.
The Capital District Sports Women of the Year (CDSWOY) honors the best and brightest female student athletes from high schools and colleges in the Capital District of New York State. The student-athletes will be recognized for their achievements in academics, athletics, and community service. More information is provided at the website, cdswoy.com.
Academically, Jenna was the Student Council President and the National Honor Society President. She received the Kiwanis Outstanding Senior Award as well as a Heisman Scholarship. She was on the Principal’s List for all four seasons for a 95 GPA and above during her academic career at Maple Hill. Jenna also received these awards: YMCA Leadership, Hoby Leadership, Ryla Rotary, Youth Leadership, Elks Club and the J. Stalker Caring for Others Award. She was a student council mentor, served on the Mental Health Committee, was a student representative on the Board of Education, served as a seventh grade mentor and was the Key Club Secretary.
Athletically, Jenna was the Team Most Valuable Player, a first team all-star and served as captain of her basketball team this past season. She was also a second team all-star in 2020. Jenna was the Team Most Valuable Player, a first team all-star and captain of her volleyball team in her senior season. She was named to numerous all-tournament teams in basketball and volleyball.
Jenna received the Girl Scout Silver Award for Community Service. She was a Junior EMT and created thank you signs for essential workers during the pandemic. She works with the Miracle League basketball program, is a pen pal for residents at the Castle Hill Nursing Home, and created and organized a holiday video tribute for teachers.
CDSWOY will announce the next student-athlete recipient on July 7 and Mondays and Wednesdays through July 21. A total of 10 high school and two college female student-athletes will be honored.
